Ariadne's Thread

Somber Melody

all the grass is golden

skies a milky white serenade

buildings tower--toward the outstretched body

afloat in this sea of dream

by the waters a drift, in endless mist

so blue are the waters, pale midnight

colors reflect your body across

the souls in my eyes

my body hovers, silent, responding

only, i only hear your thoughts

in silky greens, the froth of the waves caress gentle sways

as the moonlight kisses your hair

in this time, in this time

when the creatures of night do bloom

in twilight's forest, the thickness thoughout

this moon, i hold on, on to the edge

of this moment, upon the life in you

so many truths, so many colors entwined

in the soul of you, i give you all

the silver bands that shine

in the memories of my mind

to hold you in a second all the more

to feel your heart beat, every moment

when moments bleeds, from the hands

on clocks twisted, and turned

in memories rhymed, by darkest shadows

which fall across the waters, a silent silhouette

on the mirror of my wall

and as these clocks do chime, by the hours

in their call, no one does forgive

no one does reach out to hold

that which i know i am

wait for me, wait for me on the blades

of emerald thistle, the barley soft in the shackles

of deeper browns and yellow

forever more my love, life these angels

from my shoulders and carry me beyond

high, higher to a new kind of birth

i feel you, i feel you now

forever, forever and ever more

in these meadows of morning

rose blush in the cheeks

whose face that glistens, fresh by

the sweet lily dew

i hold you in this moment, forever my love

forever, and as these nights fold

on nights surely i am told, and i am, i am

forever yours to reach beyond, out of this world

though i know, in my heart, the reflection tells

truth, to surely reveal

that no one can shake these tears from my eyes

not even as my voice whispers

this sweet lullaby
