Ariadne's Thread

Chaos Dreaming

Isolated

isolated in the middle of everything

in the middle of everywhere

trying to hold on

last breathe

seeking refuge from the rain

the wicked rain that scorns and taunts my haunted soul

crooked rain

I have no path to follow

feel so hollow

so isolated

isolated from you

'Enter my world'

I offer a trade

my love for a night alone with you

even

I offer

you accept

I look at you under the pale moonlight

your face

your hair

I want to touch you

I want to hold you

but that's not part of the deal

not part of the deal

I reach out

you stand back

all I do is stare

the wind starts to blow

your hair brushes my hand

so soft

so sweet

like it was before

before the storm

My love, can't I hold you?

only in a memory

only in a memory

a picture frame now broken

you turn away as my hand reaches out

the sand beneath my feet

every grain etches into my skin

the sand is wet

wet from the rain

No matter where I go, I feel like I am drowning

The moon goes beneath the clouds

the light softens

I look up to the sky

seeking solace

none to be found

your hair is wet

I offer you my coat

it's getting cold

the tide brings in the change

brings in the winter breeze

you just turn away

the rain has soaked everything

the fire seems to help

help keep us warm in this crooked rain

I throw another log onto the fire

just to keep it burning

I put my hands close to keep them warm

I want to take a picture

capture this moment

the moon comes out from hiding

I say 'smile'

you just turn away

I hope the picture turns out

capture the moment

hold this memory

paint a picture in the night

with colors so bright

I start to run, but I have no where to go

We walk on further

leaving the fire behind

farther than I have ever been

places I have never seen

lights that never have touched my eyes

malls filled with kids

beaches filled with people

I have never seen so many faces

I look at you

you at me

your stare is seems so vacant

I wonder if you are even there

just a dream

I tell myself it's just a dream

when I wake

you are sleeping next to me

I try to shield you from the rain

but I end up getting wet

The fire grows dim

too far in the distance to see

there is nothing left to say

no more wood for the fire

you hand me my coat

I try to stand up straight,

look you in the eye

but the moon is too bright

I can't see

the wind blows your hair

blows it into your face

I try to reach out

try to push it away

I want to see you one last time

but your hand catches mine before I can reach you

your touch is so cold

my coat is soaking wet

wet from the rain

crooked rain, wicked rain

I say goodbye

try to hide my tears

I see your plane leave

it flies so high

there is no moon tonight

there are no clouds to hide its light

there is only blackness

darkness

the planes illuminates the midnight sky

it burns an image in the past with a fire so hot

so hot

no one can come near

I stand back

shield my eyes

I wonder of you are safe

call when you get there

the phone never rings
